BASIC OBEDIENCE

DOG TRAINING

Our basic dog obedience lessons typically starts with foundational commands like “sit”, “stay”, “come”  and “down”, gradually progressing to leash walking with minimal pulling, incorporating distractions, and building duration on commands, all while emphasizing positive reinforcement with treats and praise; key elements include proper timing of cues, consistent hand signals, and managing the training environment to ensure success for the dog and handler.

The energy between dog and its owner is another important aspect that we put great emphasis on. Our team of dog trainers at Taggs K9 want to create a positive environment and relationship that is built on trust between you and your dog. All of our programs are based on this basic obedience course that builds on everything else.

Our  “Mind Your Manners”  Private Lessons program or the more intensive Board & Train Programs are a good choice to get started.

THE NATURE OF EACH DOG BREED'S ENERGY LEVEL AND YOUR ENERGY EXCHANGE WHILE YOU TRAIN

“Exchange of energy”  while training refers to the dynamic interplay between a dog and their trainer during training sessions, where the dog’s emotional state, excitement level, and focus are directly influenced by the trainer’s actions, body language, and energy, leading to a reciprocal exchange of positive or negative energy throughout the training process.

Besides the exchange of energy during canine training between dog and trainer, then there are four ranges of energy level for dog breeds –
low, medium, high and very high.

It’s helpful to know which dog breeds tend to have the most energy so you can know what to expect. Of course, keep in mind that each individua l dog will differ based on his or her personality and may not fit this mold.

Most high-energy dog breeds are working breeds and herding breeds, which have the instincts to spend the majority of their day active, alert, and doing their jobs.

But generally speaking, the most high energy dog breeds are:

·Border Collie
·Australia n Shepherd
·Australia n Cattle Dog
·Jack Russell Terrier
·Weimaraner
·Belgian Malincis
·Siberian Husky
·Dalmatian
·Boxer
·Irish Setter

Again, there are outliers for everything, and plenty more breeds we could mention. But for those who are maybe looking specifically for a high-energy dog breed to bring into their family, that list is a good place to start.
